Minister of Education, Science and Technology Honourable Bright Msaka, SC, held a courtesy meeting with representatives of Belgian technology company G-HiTech Industries, with discussions focusing on innovative energy solutions and the electrification of schools in Malawi.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Minister to engage with the company on implementing the Belgium-funded Electrical Energy from Schools (B-EES) project that aims to bring clean and productive electricity to 45 schools across Malawi through the company’s solar-powered energy technology.
Space scientist and G-HiTech Executive, Mr Mathias Cyamukungu said G-HiTech’s work is closely aligned with the Minister’s vision of ensuring that education equips young people with knowledge and skills that are relevant to the environments and challenges in which they live.
The first installation under the project was inaugurated at Kaungwe School in Dowa. The project has a total financing package of €859,312.
G-HiTech Industries is a Belgian technology company that develops decentralised renewable-energy systems aimed at expanding access to affordable and productive activities to rural communities.
