Sanwo-Olu appoints Professor Badejo as new LASU Vice-Chancellor
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Professor Ayodeji Olawunmi Badejo as the new Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU).
The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Badejo, a Professor of Guidance and Counselling, succeeds Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, whose five-year tenure as Vice-Chancellor has expired.
According to the statement, Badejo was born on 4 August 1962 and obtained a PhD and a Master of Education degree in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
She is expected to assume office following the expiration of Olatunji-Bello’s tenure.
Olatunji-Bello became Vice-Chancellor of LASU in September 2021 and recently bowed out after five years in office.
During her tenure, she highlighted several achievements recorded by the institution, including a 96 per cent success rate in its first-year accreditation exercise, with 31 of the 37 programmes presented securing full accreditation.
She also disclosed that LASU’s internally generated revenue increased from N3 billion to N13 billion during her administration.
Olatunji-Bello described her tenure as one that transformed LASU into “the most subscribed university in Nigeria and the most digitally advanced among our peers”.
Badejo will now take charge of the university as the institution begins a new chapter under her leadership.
