Agbo Blessing, convener of Girls Awake, joined the Haven Initiative as a guest speaker at its recent Health and Hygiene Awareness Workshop, aimed at educating young girls on personal hygiene, body awareness, and safety.
The workshop provided participants with essential knowledge to foster confidence and self-care. Speaking passionately during her session, Blessing emphasised the importance of hygiene and self-protection, encouraging the girls to take charge of their well-being.
“Your body is yours, and you must protect and keep it clean. Remember that you are smart, beautiful, creative, and capable of achieving anything you set your mind to,” she told the participants.
In addition to hygiene education, she also spoke on abuse prevention and personal safety, equipping the girls with knowledge on recognising harmful situations and setting boundaries to protect themselves.
The collaboration between Girls Awake and the Haven Initiative reflects a shared commitment to empowering young girls through mentorship, advocacy, and education.
Many participants left the workshop feeling more informed and inspired to prioritise their self-care and personal safety.
