Temple Christian School (TCS) hosted a special service dubbed “Meet the Minister” in honour of Glenys Hanna Martin, Minister of Education, and members of her executive team.
Principal Rev. Dr. Perry Cunningham warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of the school community, expressing appreciation for the Minister’s presence and engagement with students.
The well-attended event, which included parents and members of the school board, featured vibrant performances by students. The audience was treated to a lively dance presentation titled “Celebrate,” followed by an electrifying live performance from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Band.
In her address, Minister Hanna Martin delivered a passionate message to high school students, urging them to resist cynicism, particularly the kind that proliferates on social media platforms. She encouraged them to recognise their potential and influence.
“Begin to feel the power of understanding that you by your intellect, grounding, and faith can change the direction of this nation,” she told the students.
The Minister also commended Temple Christian School for its consistent academic excellence, particularly in national examinations. Citing the school’s steady progress in both academics and sports, she confidently predicted that TCS would soon emerge as the next champions of the Bahamas Association of Independent Secondary Schools (BAISS).
Accompanying the Minister were Permanent Secretary Lorraine Armbrister and Deputy Permanent Secretary Ricardo Deveaux, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to engaging directly with schools and students.
The event highlighted not only TCS’s achievements but also the importance of partnership between schools and the Ministry of Education in shaping the nation’s future.
