As part of an institutional reorganisation, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Dr. Ibrahim Bello Bashir, has approved the appointment of new directors and deputy directors while also establishing two new academic departments.
The appointments, which take effect immediately, aim to enhance the Polytechnic’s leadership and operational efficiency.
New Appointments
The following officials have been appointed for a three-year term:
Director, Research Development: [Name not provided]
Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre: Awwal Ayuba Darki
Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development: Ibrahim Ishaku
Director, Career Development Centre: Dr. Zainab Ciroma
Deputy Director, Entrepreneurship Development Centre: Engr. Dr. Falmata Audu
Deputy Director, Vocational Education and Skill Development: Engr. Nura Hassan
A letter confirming these appointments was issued by Haruna Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar (Personnel and Pension Matters).
Creation of New Academic Departments
In a bid to expand academic offerings, Dr. Bashir has established two new departments:
Department of Applied Chemistry
Department of Applied Physics
According to Muhd Nura Nguru, Head of Information and Public Relations, the creation of these departments aligns with the Polytechnic’s commitment to providing relevant and cutting-edge education.
Acting Heads of New Departments
The Rector has also appointed acting heads to lead the newly established departments for a one-year term:
Acting Head, Department of Applied Chemistry: Ladi Lawan
Acting Head, Department of Applied Physics: Ahmed Goje
A formal letter announcing these appointments was signed by Sa’idu Umar Katuzu, Deputy Registrar (Council and General Administration).

Speaking on the restructuring, Nguru emphasized that these changes are designed to improve the institution’s efficiency and strengthen its leadership team.
