NELFUND Closes 2024/2025 Application Portal, Sets Dates for New Cycle
Abuja, Sept. 29, 2025 — The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the closure of its 2024/2025 academic session application portal, effective Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
The move marks the end of the second full cycle of the scheme and will allow the Fund to complete the processing of pending applications and upkeep disbursements.
According to a statement signed by NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the portal for fresh applications into the 2025/2026 academic session will reopen in the second week of October 2025 and remain accessible until January 2026.
Institutions have been directed to update their students’ records on the Student Verification System (SVS) to enable access to the new cycle. NELFUND warned that all unverified applications from the 2024/2025 session would be automatically cancelled after October 8, 2025, urging students to engage their schools to avoid being affected.
Speaking on the development, NELFUND’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, said the transition was necessary to prepare for the next phase of applications.
“We remain committed to removing financial barriers for students and working with institutions to ensure that no eligible student is left behind,” he said.
NELFUND further disclosed that upkeep payments for the 2024/2025 session would continue until November 2025, but students must reapply for the 2025/2026 academic session to remain eligible.
The Fund also said it would publish the names of institutions that fail to complete mandatory verification of student lists, as part of efforts to ensure transparency.
