The Towulade of Owu Akinale, Ogun State, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, has declared that no parent in his community will be allowed to keep their children out of school.
Speaking during the flag-off of an education support initiative at Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Akinale, on Monday, the monarch distributed free exercise books, uniforms, and writing materials to pupils.
Oba Adediran said education remains the foundation for a brighter future, warning that any parent who fails to send their child to school will face sanctions.
“No child in Akinale must be out of school, and my chiefs have agreed with me on this,” he said.
He added that another phase of the programme would be launched in the coming months, focusing on teacher empowerment and school infrastructure.
The monarch commended Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, for his investment in the education sector, saying, “As a stakeholder working with SUBEB, I see it as my duty to support our children and complement government efforts.”
Olori Oluwafolakemi Adediran, who initiated the programme, said it was aimed at encouraging parental involvement in children’s education.
“Parents must not give up on their children. They should support teachers and ensure no child engages in hawking,” she said, adding that the scholarship component would reward pupils with A grades.
A teacher, Mr. Akinyemi Olusola, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the monarch for his gesture and urged others to emulate him.
Oba Adediran received his Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment from Governor Abiodun in July.
