The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in Ghana.

According to the statement issued on December 30, 2024, heads of schools will be provided with login credentials to access the results, which are also available online at www.waecgh.org.
This year, 460,611 candidates—212,954 males and 247,657 females—from 1,003 schools sat for the examination, marking a 2.66% increase compared to the 2023 figure of 448,674. However, 4,609 candidates (1.0%) were absent. WAEC emphasized that results are secure and can be verified through the WAEC QR code and results verification system.
Examination Malpractice
WAEC disclosed disciplinary actions taken following investigations into reported irregularities:
1. Subject results of 4,108 candidates were canceled for bringing prohibited materials like notes and textbooks into exam halls.
2. Entire results of 483 candidates were nullified for possessing mobile phones.
3. Subject results of 781 candidates and entire results of 209 candidates were withheld for various suspected offenses.
Additionally, subject results of candidates from 319 schools were withheld for alleged collusion. These cases are under investigation, and the final decision will determine whether the results are released or canceled.
WAEC cautioned stakeholders to beware of fraudsters promising to upgrade results for a fee, reiterating that results are secure and cannot be altered.
