The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, made an unannounced visit to King’s College, TBS, Lagos, on Thursday, arriving at 7:30 a.m. During his inspection of the school’s classrooms and facilities, he observed an untidy environment and a prolonged power outage.
Vice Principal Shittu Y. S. informed the minister that the school had been without electricity for eight months. He explained that while the school initially relied on a generator, it broke down before the end of the term in December. To manage the situation, the school had purchased generators for classrooms and the dining hall, and installed an inverter in the hostel.
Shittu noted that the annex campus for Junior Secondary School students in Victoria Island had regular power supply.
The minster however made a promise to the students and members of staff that the facilities would be upgraded.
