Announced on April 20, 1999 along with two other new private universities, Babcock University which was famously inaugurated in the same year, became one of Nigeria’s premier private universities. Belonging to the Seventh-day Adventist education system which is renowned for being the second largest Christian school system in the world, BU, as Babcock University is fondly called by students and staff alike, was given birth to with the gene of excellence already imbedded in its DNA.
From its humble origin as Adventist College of West Africa (ACWA) established on September 17, 1959 with just 7 students, it has evolved to become a very sizeable institution with over 20,000 students on campus and enjoying partnerships with various institutions across the globe.
