The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has acknowledged the successful institutional loan disbursement to 287 students of Imo State University (IMSU), Owerri, Imo State, on November 12, 2025.
The disbursement forms part of the Federal Government’s ongoing commitment to improving access to higher education by providing financial support to eligible Nigerian students across public tertiary institutions.
According to NELFUND, the funds were disbursed directly to the institution in line with established guidelines, ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficient application of the loan to approved academic expenses. The beneficiaries, drawn from various faculties of Imo State University, were verified through the Fund’s digital platform before the release of the loans, reinforcing confidence in the integrity of the process.
The management of Imo State University expressed appreciation to NELFUND for the timely intervention, noting that the disbursement would significantly ease the financial burden on students and their families. University authorities further assured that the funds would be appropriately applied to students’ institutional charges, thereby enabling beneficiaries to focus fully on their academic pursuits without disruption.
NELFUND reaffirmed its dedication to expanding the reach of the student loan scheme nationwide and encouraged other eligible students to take advantage of the initiative.
