The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Akintunde Sawyerr, on Wednesday, 18th March 2026, attended the graduation ceremony of the CNG Autogas Conversion Training Programme organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission.
The event, which held at the Dakada Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC) in Ikot Ada Idem, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, brought together key stakeholders in government, development, and youth empowerment.
Mr. Sawyerr attended the ceremony as a Special Guest, joining his counterpart, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Samuel Ogbuku. The programme marked the successful graduation of 500 youths trained in Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) autogas conversion, a key initiative aligned with the Federal Government’s drive towards cleaner and more affordable energy solutions.

In his remarks, Mr. Sawyerr commended the NDDC for the initiative, noting that skills acquisition programmes of this nature complement the efforts of NELFUND in expanding access to education and economic opportunities for young Nigerians. He emphasized the importance of integrating vocational and technical training with financial support mechanisms to ensure sustainable youth empowerment.
The ceremony also had in attendance the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government.
The event featured the presentation of certificates to the graduating trainees, marking the completion of their training and their readiness to contribute meaningfully to the growing CNG value chain in Nigeria.
