The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed a total of ₦49,424,000 to support 2,282 students of the Lagos State College of Nursing Science, Igando for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The disbursement, which was made on March 12, 2026, is aimed at covering tuition fees and other statutory charges, providing critical financial relief to students pursuing nursing education in Lagos State.
According to details of the intervention, the funding ensures that beneficiaries can continue their academic programmes without disruption, reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to expanding access to education through student financing initiatives.
Stakeholders have described the intervention as timely, particularly in strengthening the healthcare education pipeline, as more trained nursing professionals are needed to meet growing demands within Nigeria’s health sector.
The initiative also aligns with ongoing efforts to promote inclusive education and reduce the financial burden on students, offering what has been described as “renewed hope” for thousands of learners striving to complete their studies.
