The management of University of Delta has received a total sum of ₦52,149,900 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2025/2026 academic session to support 257 students of the institution.
According to details of the disbursement released on April 22, 2026, the payment covers tuition and statutory charges for the beneficiaries, easing the financial burden on students and their families.
The intervention is part of the Federal Government’s student loan initiative aimed at ensuring that indigent and eligible Nigerian students have uninterrupted access to higher education.
Authorities disclosed that the fund will directly support the academic pursuits of the affected students, allowing them to continue their studies without financial setbacks.
The disbursement has also been described as a major boost to the Federal Government’s “Renewed Hope” agenda in the education sector, with stakeholders expressing optimism that more students across the country will benefit from the initiative in subsequent phases.
Students and parents have continued to commend the intervention, noting that the scheme could significantly reduce dropout rates caused by financial hardship in tertiary institutions.
