One of the teachers abducted during an attack on Community High School in Oyo State, identified as Michael Oyedokun, has reportedly been killed by his captors.
The teacher was among several staff members, students and the school principal kidnapped when armed gunmen invaded the school on Friday, May 15, in Oyo State.
According to reports, a disturbing video allegedly released by the kidnappers on Sunday showed Oyedokun being killed, sparking outrage and fear over the safety of the remaining victims still in captivity.
The incident has heightened concerns over growing insecurity and attacks on schools in parts of Nigeria, especially following recent abduction attempts along the Ibadan-Ijebu road corridor.
Residents of the affected community, families of the victims and concerned citizens have continued to urge security agencies and the Oyo State Government to intensify rescue efforts and secure the safe release of those still being held.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had not officially confirmed the killing.
