The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of The Bahamas has celebrated the departure of Team Bahamas to the prestigious 101st Scripps National Spelling Bee Competition in Washington, D.C., United States.
Representing the nation on the global academic stage are two outstanding young scholars, Caerwyn Turnquest and Felix Wells, who will compete alongside 247 elite spellers from around the world in one of the most respected spelling competitions internationally.
Leading the delegation are senior education officials Vanessa James Rolle, Coordinator of the Curriculum Enrichment and Enhancement Section, and D’Metria Smith, National Spelling Bee Coordinator. The ministry commended both officials for their dedication to literacy development, academic excellence, and student achievement.
Also accompanying Team Bahamas are Coaches Turnquest and Knowles, representatives of the Bahamas National Spelling Bee (BNSB), as well as supportive parents who have played key roles in mentoring and encouraging the young contestants throughout their journey.
According to the ministry, the participation of Caerwyn Turnquest and Felix Wells in the international competition reflects their hard work, discipline, and commitment to excellence, while also showcasing the academic potential of Bahamian students on the world stage.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology expressed confidence in the team and wished the students safe travels and success as they proudly represent The Bahamas internationally.
The ministry further noted that the nation stands united in support of the young scholars as they carry the hopes, prayers, and encouragement of Bahamians into the global competition.
