OPAY | GOOGLE NATIONAL INNOVATION CHALLENGE, SCHOLARSHIP & BOOTCAMP 2026
A nationwide innovation opportunity is now open for Nigerian undergraduate students who are ready to build, create, and solve real-world problems using technology.
The programme is a joint initiative by OPay, in partnership with Google, designed to identify young innovators and support them with funding, training, and career-building opportunities. It is focused on developing practical, tech-driven solutions that address key challenges across industries in Nigeria and beyond.
This is not a theoretical competition. It is a structured innovation pathway — combining learning, mentorship, and funding support for student-led ideas with real potential for impact and scale.
Participants will work across high-growth and future-focused sectors, including Fintech and Digital Payments, Healthtech, Cybersecurity, Edtech, Artificial Intelligence and Automation, Climate and Sustainability, Agritech, and digital solutions for small and medium enterprises.
The programme is open to undergraduate students currently studying in any discipline across Nigerian institutions. Technical background is not a strict requirement. Ideas, creativity, and problem-solving ability are what matter most.
Selected participants will benefit from a range of opportunities designed to accelerate both innovation and career growth. These include a bootcamp experience, structured mentorship, internship exposure, and potential job placement opportunities within the tech ecosystem.
There is also significant financial support attached to the programme. A grand prize project grant of ₦10 million will be awarded to outstanding innovations, alongside scholarship awards of ₦300,000 for selected participants.
Beyond funding, the programme offers something equally valuable — access. Access to mentors. Access to industry networks. Access to platforms that help ideas move from concept to reality.
Applicants are encouraged to submit strong, original ideas with clear problem statements and practical solutions.
Deadline for application: 14th June, 2026.
