Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, a social media user known as @Swanky001 and Swanky_concept, has regained his freedom after a Good Samaritan paid the court-imposed fine that secured his release from custody.
Adeyeye was convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and publishing false and malicious information. The case stemmed from a viral social media post in which he allegedly made a false claim concerning the child of Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi.
Following his conviction, the court gave him an option of a fine in lieu of imprisonment. He was subsequently taken into custody pending payment of the fine.
However, after growing public attention and reactions surrounding the case, a concerned benefactor stepped forward and settled the fine on his behalf.
With the payment completed, Adeyeye has now been released and reunited with his family.
The identity of the benefactor remains undisclosed at the time of filing this report.
