The NNPC/Renaissance Joint Venture has opened applications for the 2026/2027 Renaissance Africa Energy Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship Scheme, offering eligible Nigerians from the Niger Delta the opportunity to pursue a fully funded one-year master’s degree in the United Kingdom.
The scholarship, now in its 17th year, is open to indigenes of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, and Rivers states. Successful applicants will study at one of three partner universities in the UK: Newcastle University, the University of Aberdeen, or Robert Gordon University.
The award covers:
Full tuition fees
Return economy airfare from Nigeria to the UK
Living allowance
Settling-in allowance
Medical insurance
Visa, Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), and TB test costs
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be an indigene of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo, or Rivers State.
Be between 21 and 28 years old by September 30, 2026.
Hold, or expect to obtain before the programme begins, at least a UK Upper Second-Class Honours equivalent.
Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by September 2026.
Meet the English language requirements of the chosen university.
Have secured a formal admission offer for an eligible master’s programme before applying for the scholarship.
Possess a Nigerian international passport valid until at least December 2027.
Employees of the Renaissance Joint Venture, their immediate relatives, and applicants who have previously studied in the UK or another developed country are not eligible.
Eligible courses include Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, Renewable Energy Engineering, Geophysics, Environmental Engineering, Advanced Computing, Oil and Gas Engineering, among others.
The application deadline is July 17, 2026. Interested candidates are required to first obtain admission into an eligible programme at one of the partner universities before submitting their scholarship application.
