Young Nigerian graduates seeking to build careers in technology can now apply for the Tunde Onakoya AltSchool Scholarship 2026, a ₦250 million initiative that will provide tuition support, laptops, mentorship, and employment opportunities.
The scholarship is a collaboration between AltSchool Africa, Jobs59, and Chess in Slums Africa, founded by chess master and social entrepreneur Tunde Onakoya. The programme aims to equip more than 1,500 learners with in-demand digital skills through AltSchool Africa’s diploma programmes.
According to the organisers, the initiative goes beyond financial assistance by connecting beneficiaries to internships, mentorship, and job placements after completing their training.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open to:
Current National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
Recent NYSC graduates.
Graduates preparing to commence NYSC.
Young Nigerian graduates interested in transitioning into technology careers.
Applicants willing to commit to an intensive technical diploma programme.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
Tuition support worth ₦160,000, covering the ₦10,000 application fee and ₦150,000 towards AltSchool Africa tuition.
Access to the ₦250 million scholarship fund shared among over 1,500 beneficiaries.
Free laptops for selected participants.
Enrolment in accredited diploma programmes lasting between 9 and 12 months.
Internship, mentorship, and job placement opportunities through Jobs59.
