MTN Nigeria has cautioned its subscribers against fraudulent online offers claiming to provide a 25GB anniversary data bundle, urging customers to access the promotion only through the company’s official channels.
In a statement shared on its X (formerly Twitter) support account on Saturday, the telecommunications company warned customers not to click suspicious links, share personal information, or make payments to unauthorised platforms promoting the offer.
According to MTN, the genuine 25GB anniversary giveaway is available exclusively through the MyMTN NG App and the MTN eShop.
“Please beware of fake MTN 25th Anniversary 25GB giveaway offers circulating online. The official MTN 25GB Anniversary Giveaway is available ONLY via the MyMTN NG App and MTN eShop,” the company stated.
MTN advised subscribers to log into the MyMTN App and select the “Redeem Now” option on the anniversary banner or visit the MTN eShop to activate the offer if they are eligible. Customers who received an official SMS notification can also use the link contained in the message.
The telecom provider emphasised that subscribers should rely only on information received through its verified communication channels when redeeming the promotional bundle.
The company also disclosed that the free 25GB data bundle will remain valid until 11:59 p.m. on the specified expiry date and encouraged eligible users to redeem it before it expires.
The warning comes amid the circulation of fake websites and social media posts designed to deceive subscribers into revealing personal information or making payments under the guise of claiming the anniversary data offer.
MTN urged customers to remain vigilant and avoid unauthorised websites or platforms requesting sensitive information in exchange for the promotional data bundle.
