Students across Nigerian universities are being encouraged to participate in the Federal Ministry of Education’s NESRI initiative and share their experiences with the government’s new electric tricycles deployed under the Campus Mobility Project.
As part of this week’s NESRI Friday campaign, students who have seen the electric tricycles on their campuses can take pictures with them, tag the Federal Ministry of Education and identify their universities.
They can also share how the e-tricycles are making movement around their campuses easier.
The invitation is part of efforts to showcase the impact of the Campus Mobility Project, which is providing electric tricycles to universities to improve movement between hostels, lecture halls, libraries, laboratories and other parts of campuses.
How to Participate
Students who want to participate in the NESRI Friday campaign can:
– Take a picture with an electric tricycle on their campus.
– Tag the Federal Ministry of Education.
– State the name of their university.
– Share how the e-tricycle is making movement around campus easier.
The Federal Ministry of Education is also documenting the initiative through the NESRI Initiative Documentary, which takes viewers onto campuses to see the Campus Mobility Project in action.

240 E-Trikes Already Deployed
The Campus Mobility Project was introduced to make movement across participating campuses safer, easier and more accessible.
Last year, the Federal Ministry of Education deployed 240 electric tricycles to 12 universities.
Each of the 12 institutions received 20 e-trikes and a dedicated charging station.
The project is designed to address a familiar part of university life: moving between hostels and lecture halls, libraries, laboratories and other facilities spread across large campuses.
540 More E-Trikes Coming
The government is expanding the initiative this year with an additional 540 larger electric tricycles.
The new e-tricycles are nine-seaters and are being deployed to 36 universities across Nigeria.
Six institutions in each of the country’s six geopolitical zones will benefit from the latest deployment.
This expansion is expected to bring the Campus Mobility Project to more students and institutions across the country.
Part of Renewed Hope Education Agenda
The Campus Mobility Project is being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Education under the leadership of Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, Minister of Education.
It forms part of efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Education to ensure that improvements in education are felt not only in the classroom but also in students’ everyday campus experiences.
By providing electric tricycles, the government is seeking to make campus transportation more convenient while supporting safer and more accessible movement for students.
The NESRI Friday campaign therefore gives students an opportunity not only to see the transformation on their campuses but also to document and share their experiences with the wider public.
