Public and private schools across Ekiti State are set to resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, for the first term of the 2026/2027 academic session.
As schools prepare to reopen, the Ekiti State Government has reassured parents, teachers and other stakeholders of its commitment to improving teaching and learning across the state.
The Commissioner for Education, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye, said the government would continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the quality of education and enhancing students’ academic performance.
According to her, the first term will run for 13 weeks, from September 14 to December 11, 2026.
Aderiye said academic activities would begin immediately after resumption in order to protect the integrity of the school calendar and ensure that learning progresses as scheduled.
She noted that the state government remains focused on supporting initiatives that improve students’ performance in both local and national examinations.
The commissioner urged school administrators, teachers, parents and guardians to take note of the academic calendar and ensure full compliance throughout the term.
She also called on parents and guardians to make adequate preparations for their children and wards ahead of resumption.
Private school proprietors were equally advised to ensure that their schools are fully prepared to receive students and begin the new academic session smoothly.
With schools reopening across the state, the government says its focus remains on creating an environment that supports effective learning and improved educational outcomes for Ekiti students.
