The Federal Ministry of Education has distanced itself from an association operating under the name National Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the Federal Unity Colleges, stating that the body is neither recognised nor authorised to represent PTAs in the country’s 117 Federal Unity Colleges.
In a statement, the Ministry said the association does not speak on behalf of the colleges, their PTAs, parents or guardians.
According to the Ministry, any statement, directive, appeal or communication issued by the association has no official standing and should not be regarded as representing the position of the Federal Government or the Federal Unity Colleges.
The Ministry therefore advised parents and guardians to rely only on official communications from the Federal Ministry of Education and the management of their respective schools on matters affecting students and school activities.
The clarification comes as schools across the Federal Unity College system resume for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, urged parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards return to their respective schools as academic activities commence nationwide.
Alausa reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the effective administration of Federal Unity Colleges and to providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
He also assured parents that the Ministry would continue to support the academic and overall development of students throughout the 2026/2027 academic session.
