Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has formally acknowledged the receipt of a disbursement from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) totalling N291,796,525. The loan, aimed at supporting higher education, will benefit 3,846 students of the institution.
The acknowledgment was conveyed in a letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Professor Kabiru Bala, and addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND. The disbursement, which was received on 11th March 2025, marks a significant step in the Federal Government’s commitment to improving access to quality tertiary education across the country.
Professor Bala, in the letter dated 26th March 2025, expressed the university’s appreciation for the initiative, stating that the loan funds will be allocated accordingly to the successful candidates. He also extended the assurances of the university’s esteemed regards to the management of NELFUND.
This development underscores the growing efforts by stakeholders to ease the financial burdens on students and enhance academic success in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
