Twenty prospective National Youth Service Corps members who were abducted while travelling from Ibadan, Oyo State, to their orientation camp in the South-East have regained their freedom.
The release was confirmed on Wednesday by Adeola Oloko, media aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, in a statement.
According to Oloko, the Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, received confirmation of the prospective corps members’ release from Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma.
The confirmation was reportedly conveyed during a telephone conversation between the Olubadan and the governor at about 5pm on Wednesday.
The prospective corps members were abducted while travelling to their NYSC orientation camp, raising concerns among their families and prompting calls for intensified efforts to secure their safe release.
Their release is expected to bring relief to their families and communities, who had been anxiously awaiting news of their whereabouts.
