At just 21, Oyewale Malik Tomilola has etched his name into the academic hall of fame at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho — graduating with a First Class in Biochemistry and a stellar CGPA of 4.52. But behind this glittering achievement lies a quiet storm of determination, faith, and a mother’s unshakable devotion.
Malik’s story isn’t just one of brilliance in books — it’s a tale of burning the midnight oil, leaning into faith when things got tough, and drawing strength from a mother who believed in his dreams even before they took shape.
Raised in a home that valued prayer, perseverance, and purpose, Malik turned every obstacle into an opportunity. From long lectures to lonely nights of study, he stayed grounded in the belief that hard work pays off. And it did — again and again.
Recognized for his academic excellence, Malik became a three-time scholar and an inspiration within the LAUTECH community. The LAUTECH Muslim Graduates Association (LAUMGA) celebrated him with top honors across three consecutive academic years:
Best 300 Level Muslim Student in Biochemistry (2021/2022)
Best 400 Level Muslim Student in Biochemistry (2022/2023)
Best Graduating Muslim Student in Biochemistry (2023/2024) – Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences
At the heart of it all was his mother — a quiet force whose sacrifices often went unseen but never unfelt. Her prayers were his compass. Her strength, his fuel.
Malik’s journey is more than a success story. It’s a tribute to grit, grace, and the power of dreams nurtured in love. And as he steps into the future, he carries not just a certificate of excellence, but a legacy of faith and fortitude.
