Olivia Yacé, the Ivorian beauty queen who earned the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania and finished as fourth runner-up at Miss Universe 2025, has officially resigned her continental crown. She explained that the decision stems from her desire to remain true to her personal values and principles.

In a statement shared on her verified Facebook page, Yacé reflected on her journey: “Representing Côte d’Ivoire at Miss Universe 2025 allowed me to demonstrate my resilience and determination. However, continuing in this role requires full alignment with my core values of respect, dignity, excellence, and equal opportunity.”

Yacé emphasized that stepping down is a deliberate choice to preserve her integrity and pursue her mission of inspiring young girls. “My goal has always been to empower younger generations, encouraging them to confidently enter spaces where they may feel unwelcome and to embrace their identity with pride,” she said.

She also addressed the broader African and Black diaspora communities, calling for unity and courage: “I urge Black, African, Caribbean, American, and Afro-descendant communities worldwide to keep breaking barriers and making their voices heard. Never let anyone define your potential.”

Yacé congratulated the new Miss Universe and extended well wishes to Miss Universe Jamaica, who is recovering from an incident during the pageant. Her resignation comes in the wake of one of the most controversial Miss Universe events in recent years, marked by stage mishaps, disputes, and accusations of biased judging.

The continental queens announced at the finale alongside Yacé included Julia Ann Cluett (Europe & Middle East), Zhaona Zena (Asia), and Stephany Abasali (Americas). Observers predict Yacé’s departure will spark further conversations about contestant treatment and transparency in international pageants.

“Stepping away allows me to dedicate myself fully to the causes I believe in. I leave this chapter grateful and optimistic, ready to embark on a new journey to uplift and inspire,” Yacé concluded.
