The Ministry of Education (MOE) of Taiwan is offering fully funded scholarships to Nigerian students for the 2025 academic year, aiming to promote educational exchange and strengthen bilateral ties between Taiwan and Nigeria.
Scholarship Overview:
Host Country: Taiwan
Eligible Degrees: Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral programs
Eligible Applicants: Citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Scholarship Benefits:
Tuition and Miscellaneous Expenses: Coverage up to NTD 40,000 (approximately USD 1,250) per semester. Any amount exceeding this will be the recipient’s responsibility.
Monthly Living Allowance:
Undergraduate students: NTD 15,000 (approximately USD 468)
Master’s and Doctoral students: NTD 20,000 (approximately USD 625)
Duration of Scholarships:
Undergraduate programs: Up to 4 years
Master’s programs: Up to 2 years
Doctoral programs: Up to 4 years
Maximum cumulative scholarship duration: 5 years
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must:
Be a high school graduate or above with an excellent academic record and good moral character.
Be a Nigerian citizen.
Not hold Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality.
Not be an overseas compatriot student.
Not have previously enrolled in a degree program of the same level in Taiwan.
Not be an exchange student under any cooperation agreement.
Not have received a Taiwan Scholarship for a total of five years.
Not have had a Taiwan Scholarship or MOE Huayu Enrichment Scholarship revoked previously.
Not be receiving any other scholarship or subsidy from the Taiwan government or educational institutions in Taiwan.
Application Requirements:
Completed Taiwan Scholarship Application Form.
Photocopy of Nigerian passport.
Photocopies of the highest degree diploma and transcripts. If not in English or Chinese, authenticated translations are required.
Proof of application to a Taiwanese university (e.g., application fee receipt, application form, acknowledgment from the university).
Language proficiency proof:
For programs taught in Chinese: TOCFL Level 3 or above.
For programs taught in English: If English is not the native language, TOEFL scores or equivalent are required.
Two reference letters, signed and sealed.
Completed “Taiwan Scholarship Terms of Agreement.”
Application Procedure:
1. Apply directly to your chosen Taiwanese universities for admission within their specified deadlines.
2. Submit the Taiwan Scholarship application and required documents to the Taipei Trade Office before the deadline.
3. Selection is based on document review and may include an interview.
4. Successful applicants will be notified by May 30, 2025.
5. Awardees must submit proof of admission to the Taipei Trade Office by June 30, 2025, to receive the official Scholarship Certificate.
