The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that its student application portal will officially close on February 27, 2026, urging eligible students across the country to complete their applications before the deadline. The Fund emphasized that no late submissions will be entertained once the portal is shut, making it imperative for prospective beneficiaries to act promptly.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, NELFUND advised students who are yet to finalize their applications to log on to the portal and ensure that all required documents and information are properly uploaded. The agency reiterated its commitment to expanding access to higher education by providing financial support to qualified students in approved tertiary institutions nationwide.
The Fund, however, noted that institutions that have not commenced the 2025 academic session may seek consideration for an extension. According to the notice, affected institutions are required to submit an official request alongside their approved academic calendar for review and possible approval.
NELFUND encouraged students and institutional administrators to take the deadline seriously, stressing that timely compliance would ensure a smooth processing of applications and disbursement of funds. The scheme forms part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to ease financial barriers and promote equitable access to tertiary education in Nigeria.
