The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has disclosed that the ongoing construction of a two-storey hospital complex within the premises of the University Health Services was donated to the University by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, and the Ogun State All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Olusegun Idowu, made this known today, August 26, 2026, at the closing ceremony of the Two-Day Train-the-Trainers Workshop on University Ranking Metrics organised by the FUNAAB Ranking Advisory Committee (FURAC).

Prof. Kehinde said the project was being executed on a Build-and-Furnish basis and is expected to be completed and commissioned for use by December 2026.

Earlier, the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning (DAP), Prof. Biodun Badmus, stressed that improving FUNAAB’s ranking should not be the responsibility of a single Directorate or Academic Unit. He urged Academic and Non-Teaching Units to collaborate to provide accurate data, document institutional achievements, strengthen research visibility, improve facilities, develop partnerships, and respond promptly to ranking-related requests. He also identified Academic Planners as key liaison officers between Colleges and Departments in facilitating the collection and submission of relevant information.

During the workshop, the Ag. Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS), Mr. Temitope Soretire, presented “Webometrics Ranking: Presence, Visibility, Transparency and Excellence,” while the University Librarian, Prof. Abayomi Owolabi, spoke on “Repositories Ranking: The Size, Scholar, Visibility and Rich Files.”

The Director, World Bank Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu, presented “International Outlook: Improving the Linkages and Collaborative Drive of FUNAAB,” while Dr. Adekunle Oyelami addressed “Responsible and Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence in Academic Writing and Research.”

Other presentations featured the Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga, who spoke on “Establishing a Robust Industry Partnership Towards Increasing the Annual Income of FUNAAB”; the Director, Physical Planning, Engr. Kehinde Bamisile, who presented “Provision of Infrastructural Facilities: A Basic Requirement”; and the Alumni Global President, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi, represented by the Director, Alumni Ventures, Mr. Biodun Ajayi, spoke on “Alumni Involvement in All Development Phases of FUNAAB.”

The workshop ended with the presentation of certificates to participants, marking the successful completion of the Two-Day Train-the-Trainers Workshop aimed at strengthening collective efforts to improve FUNAAB’s visibility, research impact, and performance in global university rankings.
