I am Cleopatra, I wake up everyday to see 50 pounds in my mailbox.

I live alone in my one-bedroom flat in London. I graduated four years ago from university. I read accounting. I work with an accounting firm in London, I love my job. In the last three years I have been seeing 50 pounds in my mailbox on a daily basis. I have not spent the money. I always keep the money in a bag at home. I am genuinely worried.

I told my mum about it, she is worried too. She said that a stalker may be hanging around my flat and I should get the police involved. I do not think that the person is a stalker, I want to believe that someone is trying to get my attention. I told my mum that I will be more observant and that she should not worry. Today I woke up to see 500 pounds inside my mailbox. What is going on? Should I report this case to the police as proposed by my mum? I will ponder on this.

I am off work today. I will watch out for the person that drops that money every day in my mailbox. I will be by my window all through today. I started my endless watch at 5am and it is 8pm now. I went downstairs to check my mailbox, no money came in today. I wanted to inform my mum, but I held back. At about 11pm, before going to bed I went downstairs to check my mailbox, I found 50 pounds inside. So, I asked myself what time exactly did the person drop that money? It must have been between 8-11pm. I always check my mailbox after work every day, I get home at 6pm everyday so why was the money dropped after 6pm today? Is this person a stalker? He may have not seen me leave my house for work today and waited very late to drop the money when I would have gone to bed so that I would not see him or her.

My fear level is heightened right now or am I overreacting? I am going to study the time he drops the weekend money too. I went downstairs on Saturday morning at about 8am, the 50 pounds was already in my mailbox, on Sunday morning I checked my mailbox at 6am, the 50 pounds was there. On my way to work on Monday morning, by 7am, the 50 pounds was not there but at 6 pm when I got back home the 50 pounds was there. I realised that there was no pattern as to timing.

This is the 4th year of the mysterious daily 50 pounds being dropped in my mailbox. I knew it was time to get someone else involved. I got a private investigator and narrated my situation. He told me his strategy and I was impressed. He camped near my house for a week, he did not see anyone dropping anything inside my mailbox. No letter from a postman too but at 6pm every day after work there was 50 pounds in my letterbox. On the 7th day, the private investigator saw a man at about 2pm dropping something inside my mailbox and he zoomed his phone camera from afar and got a picture of the man.

When I got back home, the investigator showed me the picture and it was my dad. I called my mum to tell her that my dad was the person dropping the money. She was not happy about that. They have been separated since I was 15 years old. He visits me once in a while after I turned 18. I am sure he is feeling guilty that my mum alone paid for my school fees and upkeep throughout school. I called him to arrange a meeting with him for Saturday and he agreed. I sent him the address of the Chinese restaurant I want us to meet. My mum wanted to be part of the meeting, I refused. I do not always like the tensed-up environment whenever my parents sit down to talk in my house.

My dad spoke to me the day he dropped the 500 pounds in my mailbox. I remember vividly now. He called me and asked if I was at home and I said no, I am on my way home. I am so sure he dropped that 500 pounds shortly before I got home. I never thought this mysterious person would be my dad.

My dad arrived at the Chinese restaurant 30 minutes before I got there. I ordered a lot of food. Some eat in and some take away. My dad smiled. I love my dad and mum, sometimes I wonder why they separated because they are both very kind and loving. Whenever we meet, we turn off our phones so that we spend quality time together without distractions. I asked him if he had been dropping money in my mailbox, he was shocked by his facial expression, he did not respond. I asked him again, he said yes and asked, how did you know? I told him I hired a private investigator to track the person because I was scared that a stalker might just be lurking around and may strike me some day.

My dad broke down in tears. I held his hand. He could not eat the food he ordered, he drank only water all through. He told me that he wants to make up for his absence in my life, he wanted to be part of my life now financially. He could not support my mum financially when I was going to school because he was out of job for a long time due to health reasons. He said that my mum is a very nice woman, but her family members put pressure on her to walk away from our marriage. He has overcome his health challenge now and his business is doing very well. He saw a two-bedroom flat that he wants me to view, and he wants to buy it for me. He wants me to reconcile my mum with him. We did not divorce, we only separated, he said. Our meeting was very fruitful. I thanked him for all the money he has been dropping in my mailbox and promised him that I will speak to my mum about their reconciliation. We both cried and he dropped me off.

My mum called me after I turned on my phone. She asked me if the meeting went well, I told her everything that happened. She kept quiet for a very long time. She said that she has moved on and she does not want any man in her life again. I told my dad what she said, my dad said that I should continue to put subtle pressure on her.

I viewed the property with my dad. I love the apartment. We have completed the paperwork and I have moved into my own apartment. My dad tastefully furnished my apartment. I had a housewarming party at my new apartment. I invited my friends, and my mum came. I called my dad to join us. My mum did not know that my dad was coming. The moment she saw my dad she left the living room and went into my bedroom. I introduced my dad to my friends. He walked into my bedroom to speak with my mum.

An hour later they both came to the living room and told us that they will be back. They wanted to give us the freedom to party well. My parents got back to my house at about 10 pm and my friends had gone. My dad called me to come outside. He delivered a brand-new car to my apartment at about 5pm but he did not mention it to me. He handed the keys to me when I got outside. I was so excited! I told both of them to spend the night with me. They agreed. My dad slept in the guest bedroom while my mum slept with me in my bedroom.

I noticed lately that they have both been going out together without mentioning it to me. I asked my dad, he laughed, I asked my mum she laughed. My mum called me yesterday and told me that my dad will be visiting her family home today and that I should meet them there after work. It was a very good meeting. Reconciliation with all family members went well. My parents are back together. My mum and dad will be traveling to Dubai for a week. I am arranging a comeback party for them.

My mum called me from Dubai and told me that love can be very sweet if we allow it to prosper.
