The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has postponed the registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to Monday, February 3, 2025.
Initially scheduled to commence on Friday, January 31, 2025, the postponement was announced to allow the board to make necessary adjustments to its registration templates.
JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, citing reasons such as the suspension of law programmes in certain Nigerian universities and the discovery of deceptive practices at some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
“These adjustments come in light of the recent suspension of certain law programmes at selected universities, as submitted to the Board by the Council for Legal Education,” the statement read.
It further noted that some CBT centres had gained approval using fraudulent facilities, prompting JAMB to take corrective measures.
JAMB apologised for any inconvenience the changes might cause but assured candidates of a smooth registration process once the adjustments were completed.
Law Admission Suspension
Earlier, on January 29, 2025, JAMB announced that it would no longer conduct admissions for Law programmes in eight universities due to the Council for Legal Education’s suspension of the Bachelor of Laws programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The affected universities include:
Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin, Kwara State
Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State
Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State
Western Delta University, Oghara, Delta State
Taraba State University, Jalingo, Taraba State
Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State
Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike, Ebonyi State
Nigerian Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
Preparation for Registration
JAMB urged prospective candidates to prepare in advance by obtaining their National Identification Number (NIN) and securing a unique phone number for profile creation.
“You can get your NIN ahead and a phone number that has not been previously used to register on our platform to generate your profile code prior to the time,” JAMB advised via its official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
Additionally, JAMB unveiled The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba as the recommended reading text for the 2025 UTME Use of English examination.
