Oluremi Tinubu has donated 140,000 copies of seven different storybooks to the Federal Ministry of Education for distribution to public school libraries across the country.
The books were formally handed over during a ceremony at the State House in Abuja on Thursday.
Receiving the donation, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, described the initiative as a significant contribution to promoting reading culture, literacy and learning among schoolchildren nationwide.
The event was attended by the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission, Dr. Aisha Garba; the Minister’s Special Assistant, Lanre Lamina; Director in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Folake David; and Director of the National Senior Secondary Education Commission, Dr. Usman Bolani, among other officials.
The donated books will be distributed to libraries in public schools across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to improve access to reading materials and encourage a culture of reading among pupils and students.
During the event, the First Lady and the Minister of Education also inspected cartons containing the 140,000 storybooks before their distribution nationwide.
