Five female scholars dominated the spotlight at Babcock University’s 15th Postgraduate Convocation as they emerged as the overall best graduands across different academic categories, posting exceptional cumulative grade point averages (CGPAs) of up to 5.00.
The outstanding graduates were honoured during the convocation ceremony held on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, where the university graduated 665 postgraduate students.
The award recipients are Idume-David Juliet Efenona, who emerged as the best Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) graduand with a CGPA of 4.84; Okangba Daniella Chisom, who led the MBA category with a 4.85 CGPA; Segun-Adeniran Chidi Deborah, who finished as the best PhD graduand with a 4.95 CGPA; while Ojelabi Ayotundun Christianah and Osikomaiya Bodunrin Ibitola both recorded a perfect 5.00 CGPA to emerge as the best Master’s graduands.
In recognition of their remarkable academic achievements, the graduates received cash awards ranging from ₦1.5 million to ₦2.5 million, presented by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who attended the ceremony as the special guest.
Commending the institution for its contribution to national development, Governor Abiodun praised Babcock University for producing graduates who combine academic excellence with sound character.
> “Universities occupy a unique place in human civilisation. They do far more than transmit information; they sharpen minds, refine convictions, mould character and prepare citizens capable of advancing society,” the governor said.
He stressed that while academic competence is essential, it must be matched with integrity, noting that excellence without character could be detrimental to society.
The recognition of the five women as overall best graduands highlighted the growing impact of female scholars in postgraduate education, with their exceptional performances setting a high academic standard for future cohorts.
The convocation concluded with celebrations from family members, friends and well-wishers, who gathered to honour the achievements of the graduates as they embarked on the next phase of their academic and professional journeys.
