The Kwara State Government has fixed Saturday, August 1, 2026, for the conduct of the Common Entrance Placement Examination into Junior Secondary Schools across the state.
The government also announced that it will fully sponsor the examination for all registered candidates, meaning no pupil will be required to pay any fee to participate.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Peter Amogbonjaye.
According to the statement, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq approved the full sponsorship to eliminate financial barriers and ensure every child has access to quality basic education.
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Lawal Olohungbebe, said the examination would be conducted simultaneously at accredited centres across the state’s 16 local government areas, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
He described the governor’s approval as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to expanding access to quality education for every child in Kwara State.
Olohungbebe warned headteachers, principals and examination officials against collecting any unauthorised fees from pupils or parents, stressing that offenders would face disciplinary action in line with the law.
He also cautioned candidates and school authorities against engaging in examination malpractice, reaffirming the government’s commitment to conducting a credible, transparent and merit-based placement exercise.
The ministry urged parents, guardians and other stakeholders to ensure eligible pupils are duly registered and adequately prepared ahead of the August 1 examination.
