7 Things Candidates Should Check Before UTME, DE Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates against making costly mistakes when creating their profiles for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry registration.

The Board said a small error at the profile creation stage could result in major problems later in the admission process.

Here are the key things candidates should know:

1. Check your name carefully

JAMB urged candidates to confirm that their names are correctly captured before creating their profiles.

2. Verify your date of birth

Candidates should also ensure that their date of birth is correct and matches the information linked to their National Identification Number.

3. Check all details linked to your NIN

JAMB said candidates should carefully review their personal information connected to their NIN before proceeding with registration.

4. JAMB does not create these details

The Board explained that candidates’ personal information is obtained from their records with the National Identity Management Commission.

5. Errors may not be corrected by JAMB after registration

JAMB warned that if there is an error in a candidate’s name or date of birth, the Board cannot change it after registration.

6. An affidavit does not automatically solve the problem

Candidates were cautioned against assuming that obtaining an affidavit would automatically lead to the correction of their records with JAMB.

7. Verify your details before creating your profile

JAMB advised fresh candidates to take their time and confirm that their identity details are accurate before proceeding with profile creation.

The warning was contained in a new advisory video released under the Board’s “JAMB Explained” series and shared on its X handle on Wednesday.
