Are you seeking admission into a Nigerian university, polytechnic or college of education? Then, you need to understand how JAMB CAPS works.
The Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) is a platform created by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to help manage the admission process into higher institutions.
But why is it important to you as an admission seeker?
Here are five things you should know.
1. You Can Check If You Have Been Offered Admission
Instead of depending only on information from your school, you can use JAMB CAPS to check your admission status.
This helps you know whether you have been offered admission or are still waiting for a decision.
2. You Can Accept or Reject an Admission Offer
When a school offers you admission, CAPS allows you to accept or reject the offer.
This gives you the opportunity to decide whether you want the admission offered to you.
3. You May Get Another Admission Opportunity
Not getting admission from your preferred school does not always mean your chances are over.
Through its marketplace feature, CAPS allows schools to consider other eligible candidates who meet their admission requirements.
For example, another school may consider you for admission based on factors such as your JAMB score and other requirements.
4. It Helps Prevent Multiple Admissions
CAPS helps prevent a situation where a candidate receives admission offers from multiple institutions at the same time.
This makes the admission process more organised and helps schools manage their admission lists.
5. Uploading Your O’Level Results Is Important
Have you written WAEC, NECO or another recognised O’Level examination?
If you have your results, make sure they are uploaded to the JAMB portal as required.
If you are awaiting your results, you should upload them once they are available.
Your O’Level results are part of the requirements considered for admission, so failing to upload them when required could affect your admission chances.
What Should You Do?
If you are seeking admission, regularly check your JAMB CAPS profile, ensure your details and O’Level results are correct, and follow the instructions provided by JAMB.
Stay informed so you do not miss important updates.
