Christ the King College (CKC), Ire-Ekiti, has emerged as the winner of the 5th Ekiti Secondary Schools STEM Quiz Competition, defeating three other finalists in a keenly contested grand finale held at the Obafemi Awolowo Conventional Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
The annual competition, which celebrates excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), began with 20 secondary schools from across the state before being narrowed down through three rigorous rounds of competition.
In the first round, 10 qualified schools competed, with six advancing to the semi-finals. The second round saw the six schools battle for four places in the grand finale.
At the end of the competition, Christ the King College, Ire-Ekiti, emerged as the overall winner, while Petoa City College (2), Olorunsogo, Ado-Ekiti, finished as first runner-up. Federal Government Girls College, Efon-Alaaye, secured the second runner-up position, while St. Louis Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti, finished as the fourth finalist.
Organisers commended all participating schools for their outstanding performances, noting that every participant received educational materials, books and valuable learning experiences aimed at encouraging innovation and academic excellence.
They described the competition as an investment in the future of STEM education, stressing the importance of nurturing young talents capable of driving scientific and technological advancement.
The organisers also expressed appreciation to volunteers, supporters and partners for contributing to the success of the fifth edition, while inviting corporate organisations and other stakeholders to support future editions of the competition through sponsorships and collaborations.
