The Centre for Innovation, Management and Educational Technology (CIMET) is set to host the maiden edition of the Ekiti Secondary School STEM Quiz Competition, bringing together some of the state’s brightest young minds in a celebration of academic excellence and innovation.
Scheduled for Friday, July 17, 2026, the competition will feature 10 outstanding secondary schools from across Ekiti State competing in a rigorous contest of knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
With the theme “Read, Reason, Excel,” the initiative underscores CIMET’s commitment to promoting critical thinking, scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills among secondary school students while fostering a culture of excellence in education.
The event will commence promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Convention Center, Ado Ekiti, where students will battle for honours before an audience of educators, parents, policymakers and other stakeholders in the education sector.
According to the organisers, the competition is designed not only to identify and reward exceptional academic talent but also to encourage more young people to embrace STEM disciplines, which are increasingly vital to national development and global competitiveness.
To ensure wider participation, CIMET has made arrangements for the event to be streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, enabling viewers from across Nigeria and beyond to witness the competition and support the participating schools.
As excitement builds ahead of the event, education stakeholders say the competition represents another significant step towards strengthening STEM education in Ekiti State and nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, innovators and technology leaders.
