The Federal Ministry of Education has appointed Ikharo Attah as Special Adviser on Media and Communication to the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by Mr Lanre Lamina, the minister’s Special Adviser on Strategy and Implementation. According to Lamina, the decision, formalised in a letter dated April 28, is part of efforts to strengthen public engagement, improve transparency, and enhance communication around ongoing reforms in the education sector.
In his new role, Attah is expected to lead the ministry’s media and communication strategy. His responsibilities include managing media relations, coordinating public messaging, overseeing digital and social media platforms, and ensuring consistency in communication across all channels.
He will also provide strategic advice on high-level communication initiatives and support crisis communication efforts aimed at protecting the ministry’s public image.
Attah, a seasoned broadcast journalist with over 20 years of experience, began his career at DBN Television and currently serves as Manager of News and Current Affairs at Independent Television.
Beyond journalism, he has held several public service positions, including Chairman of the FCT Task Force on Traffic Decongestion in 2019 and Chairman of the FCT Task Force on Enforcement of COVID-19 Protocols in 2020. In November 2021, he was appointed Senior Special Assistant on Monitoring, Inspection and Enforcement at the FCT Administration.
