The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed ₦470,560,400 to the University of Calabar for the payment of tuition and statutory charges of 4,826 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to details released on the disbursement, the payment was made on March 16, 2026, as part of efforts to support students financially and ensure uninterrupted access to higher education across the country.
The fund explained that the intervention covers tuition and other statutory fees, providing relief to thousands of students facing financial challenges in pursuing their academic programmes.
NELFUND noted that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at improving access to education and reducing the financial burden on students in tertiary institutions.
The development is expected to benefit students across various faculties and departments of the institution, allowing them to continue their studies without undue financial pressure.
