The Nigeria Education Loan Fund, NELFUND, has disbursed N148.342m to the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, Eleyele, Ibadan, for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The disbursement, dated 20 June 2026, is expected to support 301 verified students of the institution under the Federal Government’s student loan scheme.
According to the disbursement details, the funds cover 100 per cent of the statutory charges for all verified applicants from the college who were approved to benefit from the scheme.
The development is expected to ease the financial burden on beneficiaries and enable them to continue their academic programmes without interruption arising from difficulties in meeting institutional charges.
The disbursement is part of NELFUND’s broader intervention aimed at improving access to tertiary education by providing financial support to eligible students across institutions in Nigeria.
For the beneficiaries of the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences, the release of the funds is expected to provide relief as they pursue their nursing education and professional training.
The latest development also underscores the growing role of student financing initiatives in reducing financial barriers to tertiary education and supporting students from different backgrounds to remain in school.
