The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the disbursement of ₦56,032,500 to Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, as part of its ongoing support for students under its education financing scheme.
The latest payment, confirmed as the sixth batch for the institution, covers 528 students for the 2025 academic session. According to the announcement, the funds were released on 10 March 2025 to cater for tuition and other statutory charges.
NELFUND stated that the intervention is aimed at reducing financial barriers that often hinder students from completing their education, ensuring continuity in academic pursuit without interruptions.
The initiative is part of the Federal Government’s broader effort to promote access to higher education through the Renewed Hope agenda, which focuses on easing the burden of tuition payments for Nigerian students in public tertiary institutions.
With this latest tranche, beneficiaries at UNIZIK are expected to continue their studies with improved financial stability, as the loan scheme expands its reach across tertiary institutions in the country.
