The Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has honored Master Sanni Mercy Zion, a learner from Moshood Abiola Model Primary School III, Ajegunle Titun Fajol obantoko Abeokuta for his remarkable achievement in the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN) Olympiad competition, where he emerged as the First runner-up.
The Board commended his success, describing it as a testament to Ogun State’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence.
During a reception held in his honour, the Board Secretary, Dr. Mikail Lawal, praised the young scholar for making Ogun State proud and reaffirmed the state’s reputation as a leading force in education.
He attributed the state’s consistent success in mathematics and other academic competitions to Governor Dapo Abiodun’s dedication to improving basic education. Dr. Lawal emphasized the government’s significant investments in school infrastructure and teacher welfare, urging educators to remain committed to producing more academic champions.
Similarly, Permanent Member III of the Board, Hon. Biodun Ajayi, commended the student’s dedication and pledged full support by providing all necessary educational materials in his first year when he transitions to Junior Secondary School. He highlighted the importance of nurturing young talents and ensuring they receive adequate resources to excel.
In her remarks, the Director of Academics and School Services, Mrs. Anifowoshe Kehinde, noted that the pupil’s achievement in the tenth edition of the MAN competition further reinforced Ogun State’s leadership in education. She lauded the dedication of teachers who played a crucial role in his success and encouraged other students to strive for academic excellence.
The Education Secretary of Abeokuta South LGEA, Mr. Ali Muhammad, also presented the young scholar to the Board, acknowledging the contributions of dedicated teachers in shaping his success.
Expressing appreciation, the Abeokuta South LGEA Education Officer, Mr. Somefun Olufemi, thanked the Board for its warm reception and recognized the efforts of teachers and headteachers.
He announced that the pupil would represent the state at the national level in August and assured that all necessary preparations would be made to support his journey to victory.
