The Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State has sponsored 18 indigenes on scholarship to study at Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, over the past three years.
The Chairman of Iseyin Local Government, Rasaq Fadiran, disclosed this on Thursday, October 29, 2026, while speaking with journalists in Ibadan.
He said the beneficiaries were selected through a screening process conducted by the university and were enrolled in programmes covering medicine, engineering, technology and basic digital skills.
According to Fadiran, the scholarship initiative is designed to provide opportunities for academically talented students to access higher education and acquire skills that would contribute to the development of Iseyin and Oyo State.
He attributed the success of the programme to the support of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, saying the state government’s encouragement and resources had enabled the local government to sustain the intervention.
Fadiran said the initiative had been part of his administration’s efforts since he assumed office three years ago, adding that the beneficiaries were expected to use their education to make positive contributions to their communities.
He also expressed confidence that the scholarship scheme would strengthen educational development and support the growth of medical and technology-related sectors in the state.
Meanwhile, six beneficiaries selected under the 2026 scholarship scheme resumed academic activities on Monday following their participation in orientation programmes organised by the university management.
The local government said the scholarship programme would continue to provide educational opportunities for brilliant indigenes of the community.
