Applications for the 2026/2027 Wole Ogunyemi Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship close on September 30, 2026

Postgraduate students studying at Nigerian universities can apply for the 2026/2027 Wole Ogunyemi Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship, which offers selected beneficiaries a ₦250,000 cash award to support their educational expenses.

The scholarship is targeted at full-time postgraduate students who demonstrate genuine financial need, academic commitment and a record of social impact or community involvement.

According to the Foundation, the award may be used to support expenses including tuition and fees, accommodation, books and supplies, and transportation.

Who can apply?

The scholarship is open to applicants who meet the following requirements:

GrannyMurray School GrannyMurray School GrannyMurray School
  • Must be a full-time postgraduate student in a Nigerian university.
  • Must demonstrate genuine financial need.
  • Must have a record of social impact or community organising.
  • Must not be a beneficiary of another scholarship or study grant.

The Foundation’s current application page does not state a universal CGPA requirement for the postgraduate scholarship. Applicants should therefore provide accurate academic records and supporting documents rather than assume that a particular CGPA guarantees eligibility.

What does the scholarship provide?

Selected beneficiaries will receive a ₦250,000 cash prize.

The Foundation says the award is intended to help beneficiaries meet educational expenses, including:

  • Tuition and other academic fees
  • Room and board
  • Books and other learning materials
  • Transportation

The ₦250,000 should therefore be understood as financial support towards postgraduate education expenses, rather than a guarantee that the Foundation will cover the full cost of a student’s programme.

Documents required

Applicants are expected to submit a completed application and supporting documents for verification.

The required documents include:

  1. A copy of the transcript from the last academic session
  2. A copy of the undergraduate degree certificate
  3. A CV or résumé
  4. A 300-word personal statement
  5. A signed letter of recommendation

Applicants will also be required to complete the online application form with information about their personal details, current institution, faculty, department, course of study, matriculation number, current level and CGPA.

The application form also requests information about previous academic qualifications and additional certificates, where applicable.

What should applicants highlight in their personal statement?

Because the scholarship specifically considers social impact and community involvement, applicants should clearly explain how they have contributed to their community.

Rather than simply listing activities, applicants should explain:

  • The problem or need they identified.
  • What they did to address it.
  • The community or group that benefited.
  • Their specific role.
  • The outcome or impact of the initiative.

Applicants should also explain their postgraduate programme, their academic goals and why financial support would make a difference to their education.

How will applicants be selected?

The Foundation says all applications will be reviewed by its scholarship panel.

Supporting documents will be verified, while shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview before the final selection is made.

Applicants should therefore ensure that the information provided in their application is accurate and that all required documents are available before submission.

Application deadline

The deadline for the 2026/2027 Wole Ogunyemi Foundation Postgraduate Scholarship is September 30, 2026.

Applicants are advised not to wait until the final day, particularly because the application requires supporting documents, including a certified academic transcript and recommendation letter.

How to apply

Eligible applicants can apply online through the Foundation’s official postgraduate scholarship application page.

Applicants can also download the application form from the Foundation’s website and submit the completed form and required documents through the email address provided on the official scholarship page.

Important information for applicants

Before submitting an application, candidates should ensure that:

  • They are currently enrolled as full-time postgraduate students in a Nigerian university.
  • They have evidence of their social impact or community involvement.
  • Their academic documents are available.
  • Their personal statement is within the required 300-word limit.
  • Their recommendation letter has been signed.
  • Their information is accurate and can be verified.
  • They are not receiving another scholarship or study grant.

The Foundation states that misrepresentation or omission of material information may lead to disqualification.

With the deadline set for September 30, postgraduate students who meet the requirements have a limited window to prepare their documents and submit their applications.
