The University of Sheffield, in partnership with the Allan and Nesta Ferguson Charitable Trust and the Sheffield Institute for International Development, is offering three fully funded master’s scholarships for international students from developing countries for the 2025–2026 academic year.
This initiative supports the University’s mission to strengthen international development efforts and global partnerships.
Available Courses
To qualify, applicants must have received an offer to study one of the following full-time master’s programmes starting in September 2025:
MA International Development
MSc Environmental Change and International Development
MPH International Development (Masters in Public Health)
LLM International Law and Global Justice
MA International Political Economy
MA Global Journalism
MA International Public and Political Communication
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be a national or permanent resident of a low or lower-middle-income country (as classified by the World Bank in 2025). Nigeria is included.
Hold an offer of admission for one of the eligible courses listed above.
Be self-funded (not sponsored by a government, company, or another scholarship provider).
Not already possess a qualification equivalent to or higher than the course you are applying for.
Not have studied outside your home country previously.
Plan to study full-time and be able to meet visa requirements to study in the UK.
Note: This scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarship or financial aid.
Application Process (Step-by-Step)
1. Apply to one of the eligible courses at the University of Sheffield and receive an offer.
2. Wait up to 24 hours after receiving your offer to gain access to the scholarship application form.
3. Login using your MUSE credentials (for offer holders) to complete and submit the scholarship application.
4. Deadline to apply: 1:00 PM (UK time), Monday, June 2, 2025.
5. Notification: Successful applicants will be contacted by Friday, July 18, 2025.
