The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that certificates for candidates who sat the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates are now available online.
WAEC disclosed this in a statement on its official X account on Friday, urging candidates to access their certificates through the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform.
The examination body said candidates can view, download and share their digital certificates through the platform or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.
How to Access the 2026 WAEC Certificate
Candidates seeking to obtain their certificates online are required to:
1. Visit the official WAEC website and access the Digital Certificate Platform.
2. Select Certificate Access.
3. Enter the required examination and identification details.
4. Complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where applicable.
5. View and download the digital certificate.
6. Save the certificate securely or share it with institutions requiring it.
The digital platform has two major categories of access.
Certificate Access is designed for candidates and individuals who want to view, download or share certificates, while Certificate Confirmation allows institutions and organisations to verify the authenticity of candidates’ certificates.
WAEC also advised candidates to use its official Digital Certificate application, which is available on the Google Play Store.
Digital Certificate Platform Different From Result Portal
WAEC clarified that the digital certificate platform is separate from the examination result-checking portal.
While the result portal allows candidates to check their examination results, the Digital Certificate Platform enables candidates to access and manage their official certificates electronically.
The development follows WAEC’s release of the results of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
According to the examination body, 1,950,726 candidates sat for the 2026 examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with candidates participating from more than 24,200 secondary schools.
Candidates who need to present their WAEC certificates for admission, employment, scholarship or other official purposes can therefore access and share the digital version through the approved WAEC platform.
