The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disassociated itself from a fake website soliciting payment from candidates who missed the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, described the site titled “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw” — linked to account number 8520641017 at Sterling Bank — as fraudulent and aimed at deceiving unsuspecting candidates.
Benjamin warned the public about scammers demanding N15,700 under the guise of rescheduling UTME for absent candidates, stating clearly that JAMB does not charge any fee for such services.
“This is a blatant scam,” he said. “The individuals behind it have no connection with JAMB or any government institution. The account details circulated are fake and exist solely for fraudulent purposes.”
He urged Sterling Bank to act swiftly in curbing the misuse of its platform and confirmed that the Board has alerted security agencies and is actively tracking those involved.
Benjamin reiterated that JAMB does not reschedule examinations for candidates who miss their tests for reasons unrelated to the Board. However, candidates who were unable to write the exam due to biometric verification failure will be rescheduled at no cost — but only after thorough investigation.
“We strongly advise all candidates to be cautious, avoid making payments to unofficial sources, and report any suspicious activity immediately,” he added.
This announcement comes as JAMB continues its effort to ensure a fair and secure examination process for all candidates.
